The Boiling Venus

Venus

Venus is the second planet from the sun and the closest neighbor of earth. It is one of the rocky planets in the solar system. The size is almost the same as the earth. This planet is the second planet from the sun then to it is the hottest planet in the solar system. It is the hottest planet because it does not have oxygen to form the ozone layer which could protect the planet from UV rays. The surface temperature is 864 degree Fahrenheit (462 degree Celsius). The maximum gas present in the atmosphere of this planet is carbon dioxide. There are also poisonous gas which can kill any living creature if it would be breathed in.

Formation

Venus has formed about 4.5 billons years ago. It was formed when the swirling gases, dust, and rocks were pulled/attracted to a particular area by gravity.

Layer

1) Core: The diameter of the core is 4,000 miles (6,400 km) and the temperature is 5160 K. It is mostly made up of iron and nickel. Because of the pressure of the surrounding rocks, they can't stay in molten form. So it is a solid ball.

2) Mantle: The mantle is made up of hot rocks. Due to the planet's interior heat, the rock is slowly swirling. The temperature is 740 K.

3) Crust: 75% of the surface is covered with lava. The surface temperature is 698 K.

Moons

Venus does not have a moon.

Facts!!!

i) A day on Venus is longer than a year.
ii) Venus spins clockwise on its axis, unlike other planets.
iii) Venus has 90 times atmospheric pressure than the earth's atmosphere.
